This 290 Series kit includes a 293 aluminum tripod and a compact three way head.
The 3-section MT293A3 tripod is the smaller tripod of the 290 family, constructed around aluminium leg tubes and an aluminium top casting for rigidity, durability and performance. All tubing is three-faceted for greater resistance to torsion, while the legs' tension-adjustable locking levers (also in aluminium) can be tightened to counteract any effects of wear and aging, keeping the tripod fully functional throughout its long life. Two-position leg angle settings make low-angle shooting possible, and a rapid centre column adds flexibility and extends the min-max height range. An 'anti-shock' rubber collar at the top of the centre column protects the camera if the extended column is left unlocked and drops accidentally.
Included is a three-way photo head specifically designed for compactness and transportability, while also allowing accurate, precise framing and solid support of medium-heavy camera equipment. The head's distinguishing feature is its unique mechanism for 'folding' the handles when the head is not in use. With the handles folded and running parallel, the head's dimensions are dramatically reduced, so it takes up less space when packed, and is easier and less cumbersome to carry, on or off the tripod.
The quick-release head is made from Adapto, a special lightweight polymer which cuts down the weight, yet offers high mechanical resistance for sturdy support. The head has three levelling bubbles (on for each axis of rotation) which make it easier and faster to get straight, well-framed images in-camera, thereby saving time in post-production.
The head supplied in this kit is interchangeable: other heads can be fitted to the tripod top disc's 3/8” universal attachment.
